Renovating a basement in Toronto: the debris plan
By Junk Pros GTA1 min read
A basement reno generates a surprising amount of debris. Here's how to clear it as you go, without a bin in the driveway.

A basement renovation, especially a basement-apartment conversion, generates a surprising amount of debris, and it comes out in stages rather than all at once. That's exactly the situation where a bin makes no sense and on-call pickup does.
Debris comes in stages
Demolition, framing, drywall, flooring, and fixtures all come out at different points. A bin sitting in the driveway for weeks is in the way; we come when a stage is done and clear it.
What we take and what we can't
Drywall, lumber, tile, cabinets, doors, and fixtures are all fine, separated for recycling. We can't take asbestos, chemicals, or wet paint, and older homes should have materials tested before demolition.
