Junk removal vs bin rental: which is cheaper?
By Junk Pros GTA · 2026-07-16
Bin rental in the GTA runs roughly $300–$550 for a 1-week rental of a small-to-mid dumpster — but you do all the loading yourself, and you're paying for the bin whether you fill it or not. Junk removal runs $149 for a single item up to ~$699 for a full truck, with the labour, hauling, and disposal included. Bin rental wins only for long, spread-out projects where you're filling it over days; junk removal wins for anything where you don't want to do the lifting or you need it gone in one visit.
The two are solving different problems. A bin is a container you fill on your own schedule over a week — good for a slow renovation where debris trickles out day by day. But you're renting the whole bin regardless of how full it gets, you supply all the labour, and you need space (and often a permit) to park it.
Junk removal is a service: a crew shows up once, carries everything out, and hauls it — priced by how much of the truck it fills. There's no bin sitting on your driveway, no permit, and no loading it yourself. For a one-time clear-out (basement, garage, estate, furniture), it's usually both faster and cheaper once you count your own time and the risk of paying for bin space you don't fill.
