How the free program works
The City of Toronto collects oversized items like furniture and appliances at the curb on your regular garbage day, from houses only, if they're out by 7 a.m. and within the size rules. It's free, but you wait for your collection day and get it to the curb yourself.
What it excludes
Renovation debris, tires, electronics and refrigerant appliances have their own rules and can't just go on the pile. Mattresses must be fully wrapped in plastic. And condo and apartment buildings are excluded from the program entirely, they handle waste through property management.
When to use a paid pickup
When you're in a condo, it needs to go before your collection day, it's stuck in a basement, or it's not curbside-eligible. A flat-rate pickup starts at $179 and includes the carry-out.
